How to turn Nintendo DS lite into an E-reader using R4 |
If the official R4 directions ignited your frustration and rage, you're not alone. At the end of this unofficial guide, your microSD card should have at the very least: -moonshl (folder) -moonShell_R4TF_M 3Si... -DSOrganize (folder) -DSOrganize.nds -_DS_MENU.DAT -_System_ -_DS_MSHL.NDS -ReadMore.nds -/data/fonts (folder) -DSReader.nds -arial -gara -ebooks (folder) Directions 1. Ignore the CD that came in the R4 box. It's out of date. 2. Insert a microSD card into the USB converter and plug this into a USB port on your computer. (Your computer will think it's a flash drive.) 3. Download the latest R4 kernel in English. 4. Instead of zip, they used rar to compress the folder. If your computer doesn't know what to do with it, download this to un-rar the kernel. 5. Open the newly uncompressed folder and open up a window to your new "flash drive's" contents. (The "flash drive's" microSD card should have no files, yet.) 6. Drag the following items into your flash drive: _system_ (folder), _DS_MENU.DAT, and _DS_MSHL.nds. 7. Close English-1.whateve rversion folder but leave the flash drive window open. 8. Download the latest version of moonshell 9. Unzip it and open the folder. 10. Double-click "Setup" 11. Choose English. When it asks for what drive to install on, choose the letter of the "flash drive". 12. Choose only the following options from the menu that pops up: "moonshl.ini (full) is copied", everything in the second configuration box, "the setting is updated and copied" -the clock image of your choice (clk_bluemoon4 is my fav), "The setting is updated and copied" - "MS100 (UTF-8) Unicode Windows CharSet", "AUTOPATCH default (no interface)", "DLMS3 DSlink (microSD Card)", and "GSFL G6 Lite DLDI V0.19". 13. Download my favorite ebook reader software -ReadMore Alpha. 16. Unzip the folder and open it. 17. Drag ReadMore.nds into your flash drive. 18.
