Other National Symbols Hammer. Form of Government Absolute Monarchy. Valetta, a northern city, serves as the capitol. Terrain & Climate Biston is mostly mountainous with a high altitude. Heavy snow and harsh storms make this land deadly to Elves in winter. However, in the summer, Biston can be uncomfortably hot. Densely wooded mountains surround Biston and contribute to its defenses. If not for the harsh terrain, Biston would have fallen in one of the multiple wars with Gildon. Medicinal herbs, including a few rare antibiotic potato plants, grow in the mountains beside evergreens. Crops are cultivated in the flatter areas of southern and central Gildon. Populace Ninety-nine percent of Biston's population is Human. At an average population of 180,000 Humans, Biston is one of West New Pangaea's smaller nations. Many wars and several catastrophes shrank its numbers and skewed the class distribution to 25% upper, 25% middle, and 50% lower (9542 AR census). In its golden era, Biston was known for its skilled tradesmen. Architectural plans, stained glass, tapestries, and fabric were all highly sought after before Biston's Civil War of 9524 AR. Note from Ness In my first West New Pangaea novel, which hides in my hard drive, Biston was an enemy nation, opposite to Gildon in nearly every way. Which nation wronged the other first depends on who tells the story. From a "villain's" point of view, the "hero" is self-righteous or naive. |
