Physical Characteristics

The most obvious physical trait of an
Elf is the pointed ears. Many also
have "inhuman" eye colors - orange,
silver, yellow, or an "unnatural"
blue. Some Elves also have silver hair
from birth. Typically, Elves are
taller than Humans by about six
inches, despite their slender frames.

A slight difference in muscle tissue
allows Elves to move faster than most
Humans. A subcellular structure in
their brain tissue also allows Elves
to send thoughts to others and steal
control of unshielded or weak-shielded
minds. Royal Elves and some Hybrid
Elves use that same subcellular
structure to communicate with
Elementals.

Beneath the skull of an Elf, a
specialized tissue shifts at command
to shield his/her thoughts from
another's mind. This tissue can break
under extreme force and will grow back
stronger. Some Elves, mostly royals,
are born with naturally stronger
shields than others.

When aroused or angry, their eyes emit
light the same shade as their irises.
The brighter the light, the stronger
the rage or attraction. For this
reason, Elves are considered an
emotional race.

Elves don't suffer infections and can
live forever if they chose to.
Normally they choose to live no longer
than their bound mate. Together, a
bound pair of Elves usually choose to
live anywhere between two thousand and
four thousand years.

Their ability for magic mostly comes
from a subcelluar structure that can
convert and transfer energy.

Fated Mates

Elves have very specific pheromone
receptors which normally only detect
one Elf's pheromone. When a female Elf
isn't ovulating, she produces minute
amounts of pheromone. To consciously
detect a match and possibly "bind"
their fated mate, Elves touch each
other's cheeks. If their pheromones
fit the receptors in their skin, a
tingling sensation will travel through
their nervous systems. Only when the
receptors are activated, can an Elf
achieve orgasm. The binding also
activates the female Elf's
reproductive system, allowing her to
ovulate once every century.

When a female Elf ovulates, she
produces a massive amount of pheromone
that her bound mate can't resist.
Unfortunately, neither can mortal
males.

Bound Elves can't leave their fateds
for more than a few days without
physical pain. Normally, they can't
live without the other, once bound.

Elementals

A Silver Ash tree seed is placed in an
Elven corpse before burial. The tree
that grows, stores energy like a
capacitor for the living Elven people.
Its trimmings are made into arrows to
defend the living Elven population.

When wind blows through the leaves,
the spirit whispers. But that's not
all the spirit can do. The dead form
collective power and intelligence
known as the Elementals. Together,
they control the laws of nature.

All Elven spirits are divided into
four Elemental categories: fire,
earth, water, and air depending on
where their strength lies. Only during
a funeral can they be seen, if gifted
enough energy from the living.

Most Elementals are loyal to the land
they loved in life and follow the
king's or queen's orders if given the
energy to do so. However, they can be
bribed with a large amount of energy
from an outsider. Rogue Elementals
follow the rare Hybrid Elves who
produce extraordinary amounts of
energy and who command Elven King's
Magic.

Elven Land

Elven land conducts energy from its
people to special plants that store
excess energy like capacitors.
Elementals feed off the energy storing
plants, but the Elven King can cut the
Elementals off, draw up the energy,
and force Elementals to do his
bidding. Some Hybrids produce the same
amount of energy as an entire Elven
population due to their mutated
mitochondria and can bribe Elementals.

Common energy storing plants: Lyssian
gourds, Silver Ash Trees (grow only
over the dead), Mother's milk (oozes
white nectar), and Gable grass. In the
water, green protista and algae also
store energy and give off electrical
sparks. Elven moss on tree trunks,
rocks, and the ground store energy and
spark as well.

Water evaporates from the charged
rivers, lakes, soil, and plants,
creating a warm fog that constantly
blankets healthy Elven land. The
thicker the fog, the more energy an
Elven nation has.

Some varieties of glowing bugs are
found only in Elven lands because they
feed off of the energy storing plants
and pollinate them. They heat the
pollen spores, which releases the
pollen.

Glowing flowers don't add to or
subtract from the energy, but are
plentiful in Elven lands.
